Remove an app and its storage

What this gets you

A clean unwind of Run an app on a storage: the app gone, its storage’s quota reclaimed, and — if you’re done with the disk entirely — the disk free to unplug.

Before you start

• Decide how far you want to unwind: just remove the app and keep its data, reclaim the storage too, or free the disk completely. Each step below is guarded and only lets you go as far as is safe.

The steps

1. Open Store → Installed, find the app, and choose Uninstall. This removes the app and releases its storage — the data on disk is left untouched.
2. Open Storage → Storages, find the storage, and choose Delete to reclaim its quota. Buddy refuses this while any app is still using the storage.
3. On the pool, choose Detach to unmount the disk so you can safely unplug it. Buddy refuses this while any storage still exists on the pool.

How you know it worked

After uninstalling, the app is gone from Store → Installed and the storage shows no consumer. After deleting the storage, the pool’s free capacity goes back up by its size. After detaching, the pool’s disk can be physically removed.
